The Marconi Trail is a beautiful road in Nova Scotia, Canada. It's located on the eastern part of Cape Breton Island. This special road goes from Louisbourg to Glace Bay right along the coast.

It's named after Guglielmo Marconi. He was a famous inventor. In 1902, he sent the very first radio message from North America to Europe from a spot near Glace Bay. This historic site is near the Glace Bay end of the trail. The Marconi Trail is about 63 km (39 mi) long.

The Mira Gut Bridge

The Marconi Trail used to cross the Mira River at a place called Mira Gut. It crossed on a bridge called the Mira Gut Bridge. This bridge was very old, about 140 years old!

In 2017, the bridge was taken down because it was no longer safe to use. A new bridge is planned to open in 2022. For now, people driving the trail need to take a detour. This detour is about 20 km (12 mi) long. It uses Brickyard Road and Hornes Road (Route 255). Drivers then cross the Mira River on Trunk 22 at Albert Bridge.
