Marcus H. Hinton was born in Wiggins, Mississippi. This was on December 27, 1971. He went to Stone High School. This school was also in Wiggins.
College Football Career
Hinton played for the Alcorn State Braves. This team was part of Alcorn State University. He played from 1991 to 1994. He was a key player for three years, from 1992 to 1994.
Amazing College Stats
In 1992, Marcus caught 30 passes. He gained 737 yards and scored 11 touchdowns. He was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Newcomer of the Year.
In 1993, Hinton had 41 catches. He gained 807 receiving yards and scored seven touchdowns. He led the SWAC in all these areas. He also earned first-team All-SWAC honors.

Professional Football Journey

Time with the Raiders
The Raiders released him on August 26, 1995. But he was signed to their practice squad two days later. On December 9, 1995, he joined the main team. He did not play in any games that season.
Hinton played in two games for the Raiders in 1996. He was released by the team on August 24, 1997. During the 1997 NFL season, he worked at a sawmill in his hometown.
Other Teams and Leagues
On December 23, 1997, Hinton signed with the New Orleans Saints. This was a futures contract. He was released by the Saints on August 24, 1998.
The Raiders signed Hinton again on January 14, 1999. He was then sent to NFL Europe. There, he played for the Berlin Thunder. He caught seven passes for 71 yards and scored one touchdown for the Thunder. The Raiders released him again on September 5, 1999.
In 2001, Hinton played for the New York/New Jersey Hitmen. This team was in the XFL. He played in nine games and started six of them. He had six catches for 116 yards and one touchdown.
