Wilson played for five seasons with teams like the Los Angeles Raiders and the Green Bay Packers. The Raiders picked him in the sixth round of the 1990 NFL draft. College Football Career
Marcus Wilson played for the Virginia Cavaliers at the University of Virginia. He was part of the team from 1986 to 1989. He earned a "letterman" title for playing well from 1987 to 1989.
In 1987, he ran the ball 172 times for 692 yards. He also scored seven touchdowns. He caught 18 passes for 134 yards. Wilson also returned 11 kicks for 212 yards. His seven rushing touchdowns were the most in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) that year.
In 1988, Wilson rushed 89 times for 429 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught seven passes for 25 yards and one touchdown. As a senior in 1989, he had a great season. He ran the ball 233 times for 1,098 yards and four touchdowns. He also caught 20 passes for 161 yards and two touchdowns. He returned 15 kicks for 284 yards. Because of his strong performance in 1989, he was named second-team All-ACC. This honor came from the Associated Press.
Professional Football Career
Joining the Raiders and Colts
The Los Angeles Raiders chose Marcus Wilson in the 1990 NFL draft. He was the 149th player picked overall, in the sixth round. However, the Raiders let him go on August 28, 1990.
The Indianapolis Colts then picked him up on August 29, 1990. But he was released by the Colts soon after, on September 3, 1990.
Wilson signed with the Raiders again on March 1, 1991. He was supposed to play for the Frankfurt Galaxy in the World League of American Football. But he did not end up playing for them. The Raiders released him on August 30. He then joined their practice squad on September 4. He was moved to the main team on September 21. He played in one game for the Raiders in 1991. In that game, he ran the ball six times for 21 yards. He became a free agent after the season.
Time with the Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers signed Marcus Wilson on January 30, 1992. He was placed on injured reserve on September 1, 1992. This means he couldn't play due to an injury. He was able to play again on November 20, 1992. He played in six games for the Packers that year.
