Maurice Rodney "Mardy" Collins (born August 4, 1984) is an American former professional basketball player. He is often called "Mardy." He played college basketball at Temple University. The New York Knicks chose him in the 2006 NBA draft. Mardy played for the Knicks and the Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA. After 2011, he played for many different teams around the world.

Early Life and High School
Mardy Collins grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He went to Simon Gratz High School. This school is known for producing other NBA players. Two famous players who also went there are Aaron McKie and Rasheed Wallace.
College Career at Temple
Mardy Collins played college basketball at Temple University. Scouts were very impressed by his defense. They also liked how well he played with his team. In his 2005–06 season, he had 89 steals. He often got these steals by guessing where passes would go. He also scored about 17 points per game. Plus, he grabbed nearly 5 rebounds and made 4 assists per game.
Professional Basketball Career
Playing for the New York Knicks
Mardy Collins started his NBA career with the New York Knicks. In his first season (2006–2007), he played 52 games. He averaged about 4.5 points per game. He also got 2 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
Towards the end of that season, he played more minutes. In the last ten games, his performance really improved. He averaged almost 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. He also got nearly 2 steals per game.
On December 16, 2006, there was a big incident during a game. It was between the Knicks and the Denver Nuggets. Mardy Collins made a hard foul on a Nuggets player. This led to a large confrontation on the court. All ten players on the floor were removed from the game. Collins was suspended for six games because of this.
On April 7, 2007, he played his longest game ever. He played 51 minutes against the Milwaukee Bucks. In that game, he scored 19 points. He also had 12 rebounds, 8 assists, and 5 steals.
Moving to the Los Angeles Clippers
On November 21, 2008, Mardy Collins joined the Los Angeles Clippers. He was traded to the Clippers along with Zach Randolph. In return, the Knicks received Tim Thomas and Cuttino Mobley. He played for the Clippers until 2010.
Playing for the Los Angeles D-Fenders
Later, on December 28, 2011, Collins became a player for the Los Angeles D-Fenders. This team is part of the NBA's development league.
International Basketball Journey
After his time in the NBA, Mardy Collins played basketball around the world. On January 17, 2011, he signed with a team in Turkey. This team was called Bornova Belediye.
In November 2012, he moved to Israel. He joined the team Maccabi Ashdod. In May 2013, he signed with Guaros de Lara in Venezuela. Then, on August 26, 2013, he signed with Sutor Montegranaro in Italy.
On January 1, 2014, he joined Olympiacos in Greece. This team had won the EuroLeague championship twice in a row. He played 14 EuroLeague games for them. He mostly played off the bench. He averaged about 2 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game.
On September 26, 2014, he signed with Turów Zgorzelec in Poland. For the 2015–16 season, Collins played for Strasbourg IG in France.
On July 27, 2016, Collins signed with PBC Lokomotiv-Kuban in Russia. He played for them for two seasons. He re-signed with Lokomotiv for another season on August 17, 2017. He returned to SIG Strasbourg for his final professional season in 2018-2019.
The Basketball Tournament (TBT)
Mardy Collins also played in The Basketball Tournament (TBT). This is a special basketball competition shown on ESPN. In the summer of 2017, he played for a team called City of Gods. In their first game, he scored 10 points. He also had 8 rebounds and 7 assists. However, his team lost a close game. Collins also played in TBT in 2015.
