Margaret B. Blackman (born in 1944) is an amazing anthropologist. An anthropologist is a scientist who studies human societies and cultures. Margaret Blackman is famous for her work with the Haida people, a First Nation group from Haida Gwaii in British Columbia, Canada. She started working with them in the 1970s.

She used to be a professor of anthropology at the State University of New York in Brockport. Even though she is retired, she still holds the title of "emeriti professor" because of her important contributions.

Margaret Blackman has also written books. One of her books, published in 1982, was about a Haida artist named Florence Davidson. It was called During My Time: Florence Edenshaw Davidson, a Haida Woman. In 1992, she wrote another book called Sadie Brower Neakok: An Iñupiaq Woman. This book was about Sadie Neakok, who was the first woman to become a magistrate (a type of judge) in Alaska.

Today, Margaret Blackman is the mayor of Brockport, New York. This means she helps lead the town where she lives.
