Early Life and Art Education
Margot Hutcheson was born in London, England, on June 15, 1952.
She studied art at St Martins School of Art in London. She attended this school from 1970 to 1971.
Life and Art in Australia (1974–1990)
In 1974, Margot Hutcheson moved to Australia. She lived with writer Peter Carey in an alternative community in Yandina, Queensland. She described this time as living "a simple life in the forest." They grew their own food. Margot painted, and Peter wrote.
She held her first art show in Australia in 1981. She had ten solo exhibitions in total. Her paintings often showed her life experiences.
By 1984, Hutcheson was living in Bellingen. This area is about 500 kilometers north of Sydney. In 1986, she moved to Toowong in Brisbane.
In 1987, a big investigation began in Queensland. It was called the Fitzgerald Inquiry. Margot Hutcheson attended some of the hearings. She painted a picture about the inquiry. It was called Wasn’t the Fitzgerald Inquiry Fun?. She saw the judge, Tony Fitzgerald, as an "Angel on Judgement Day."
Working in Spain (1990–1996)
In 1990, Margot Hutcheson left Australia. She moved to Spain and worked there until 1996. After that, she moved back to London.
Art Exhibitions
In 2008, Margot Hutcheson's work was part of a group show. The exhibition was called Another Point of View. It featured landscape paintings at the Watters gallery. Her painting A Lovely View showed a different way to look at landscapes. It used four canvases of different sizes.
In 2009, her painting Wasn’t the Fitzgerald Inquiry Fun? was shown. It was part of The Fitzgerald Collection exhibition. This show was at the Queensland College of Art College Gallery.

Margot Hutcheson's artwork is held in several important collections. These include the National Gallery of Victoria and the University of New South Wales. Her art is also part of Artbank and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Brisbane.
