Mariel Hemingway (born November 22, 1961) is an American actress. She started acting at 14. Her first big role was in the movie Lipstick (1976). She was even nominated for a Golden Globe Award. Later, she got nominations for an Oscar and a BAFTA Award for her role in Manhattan (1979).
She also starred in films like Personal Best (1982) and Star 80 (1983). She was nominated for another Golden Globe for the TV show Civil Wars. Later, Mariel focused on helping people understand mental health. She was part of a documentary called Running from Crazy, which talked about her family's challenges with mental illness.

Growing Up
Mariel Hemingway was born on November 22, 1961, in Mill Valley, California. She is the third daughter of Jack Hemingway, a writer, and Byra Louise. Her older sisters are Joan and Margaux. Margaux also became a model and actress.
Mariel's grandparents were Hadley Richardson and Ernest Hemingway. Ernest Hemingway was a famous writer who won the Nobel Prize. Mariel was named after a fishing village in Cuba called Mariel. Her father and grandfather often visited this village to go fishing. Mariel mostly grew up in Ketchum, Idaho. Her grandfather Ernest also spent time there.
Acting Career
Mariel's first movie was Lipstick (1976). She acted alongside her real-life sister Margaux in this film. They played sisters in the movie. Mariel was noticed for her acting and was nominated for a "Best Newcomer" Golden Globe Award.
Her most famous role was in Woody Allen's movie Manhattan (1979). This was a romantic comedy. Mariel played Tracy, a high school student. For this role, she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Mariel also appeared in Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987) as Lacy Warfield. She starred in the TV show Civil Wars from 1991 to 1993. This was a legal drama on ABC. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for her work on this show. She also acted with musician John Mellencamp in the 1991 movie Falling from Grace.
In 1995, she was the main actress in the CBS drama Central Park West. However, the show was not very popular. Mariel left the series after 13 episodes. In 1996, she played the wife of Michael York in the British TV movie September.
Mariel Hemingway has also made videos about yoga and healthy living. In 2002, she wrote a book about yoga called Finding My Balance. She has also hosted a TV show called Spiritual Cinema. She hosts a series of yoga practice videos with guru Rodney Yee.
In 2015, Mariel released her memoir, Out Came the Sun. A memoir is a book about a person's own life experiences.
Family Life
Mariel Hemingway married Stephen Crisman in 1984. They had two daughters together: Dree Hemingway and Langley Fox. They separated in 2008 and later divorced in 2009.
In 2011, Mariel started a relationship with Bobby Williams. He used to be a stuntman. They have written a self-help book together. Mariel also practices Transcendental Meditation.
