Marietta is a small community in Adair County, Oklahoma, in the United States. It's known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that looks like a town but isn't officially governed as one. In 2020, about 82 people lived here. Before that, in 2010, the population was 106. It was even called Maryetta in the 2000 census, when 138 people lived there.

The history of education in Marietta (or Maryetta, as it was once known) is quite interesting.
Early School Days
The first school here was an Indian Day school. This was before Oklahoma became a state. Later, a public school was built to replace it. This new school was named Maryetta. It got its name from Maryetta Key. Her father, Mike Key, generously donated the land where the school was first built.

Today, Maryetta Public Schools serve students from pre-kindergarten all the way up to 8th grade. After finishing 8th grade, students usually go to other nearby schools for high school.
