How to Play Mario Party 5
Mario Party 5 plays a lot like the earlier Mario Party games. Players move around different game boards. Their main goal is to collect coins. They can then use these coins to buy valuable stars.
Moving Around the Board
To move, players roll a special dice block. This block has numbers from one to ten. After all four players have taken their turn, everyone plays a mini-game. The player who wins the mini-game gets extra coins. The player with the most stars at the end of the game wins!
Board Spaces and Events
The game boards have different types of spaces:
- Blue spaces: These spaces give players more coins.
- Red spaces: These spaces make players lose coins.
- Bowser Spaces: If you land here, Bowser appears! He causes a bad event to happen, which can make things tricky for players.
- DK Space: This is a new space in Mario Party 5. If you land here, Donkey Kong shows up. Unlike Bowser, Donkey Kong always causes good things to happen for the player!
Capsule System Explained
Mario Party 5 also introduced a new "Capsule system." This replaces the item system from previous games.
- What are Capsules? Capsules are small containers. Each one holds a single special item.
- How to Get Them: Players can get capsules by passing by the "Capsule Machine" on the board.
- What They Do: Capsules can do many different things. For example, some capsules let a player roll more dice blocks. Others can take coins away from an opponent. Players can even throw capsules up to ten spaces away to affect other players or spaces.
Playable Characters
There are ten characters you can choose to play as in Mario Party 5. Some new characters joined the fun in this game:
Because Donkey Kong now has his own special space (the DK Space), he is no longer a playable character in this game.
Super Duel Mode Fun
Besides the main party game, players can also try "Super Duel Mode." In this mode, you get to build your own battle vehicle!
- Build Your Vehicle: Players can change their vehicle by adding different parts.
- Earn Parts: You can buy new parts for your vehicle using points. You earn these points by winning mini-games.
- Battle It Out: Once your vehicle is ready, you can use it in tournaments or fight against your friends!
