Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move is a fun puzzle game released in 2013 for the Nintendo 3DS. It's part of the Mario vs. Donkey Kong game series. This game was only available to download from the Nintendo eShop. It came out on May 9, 2013, in many parts of the world, and on July 24 in Japan.
The game got good reviews from players and critics. They liked its unique way of playing, the clever puzzles, and the tool that lets you create your own levels. A follow-up game, Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars, came out in 2015 for both the 3DS and the Wii U.
How to Play the Game
In Minis on the Move, your main goal is to build a path for a small robot called a Mini. These Minis look like Mario or other characters from the Mario games. You place special blocks on a grid to create a safe path. The Mini starts from a warp pipe and needs to reach a star at the end.
As you build the path, you must help the Mini avoid dangers. These include spike pits and enemies like Shy Guys. You can also try to collect three colored coins on the way. Sometimes, collecting these coins means making the Mini walk in a special loop. You can even tap the Mini to make it speed up!
If the Mini falls off the path, gets stuck, or if you run out of time, you fail the level. If you collect all three coins in a level, you earn a star token. These tokens help you unlock new game modes, more levels, and cool toys. The game has over 180 puzzles across four different ways to play. There are also four mini-games you can unlock.
Create Your Own Levels
Minis on the Move also lets you design your own levels. You can use all the pieces from the main game. You can even control how often certain blocks appear. Once you create a level, you have to complete it yourself first. After that, you can save it and share it with friends using StreetPass. You could also share levels online through Nintendo Network, where you could download levels made by other players. However, all online features for this game stopped working in April 2024.
Game Development
Minis on the Move was made by Nintendo Software Technology. This company also developed the four previous games in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series.
