About Marion Wagschal's Life

Marion Wagschal was born in 1943. Her birthplace was Port of Spain, which is in Trinidad and Tobago. Her parents were from Germany. They moved to Trinidad and Tobago in 1939.

In 1951, Marion and her family moved to Canada. They made their home in Montreal.

Her Education and Teaching

Marion Wagschal studied at McGill University. In 1962, she earned a Teaching Diploma there. Later, in 1975, she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. This was from Sir George Williams University. This university is now known as Concordia University in Montreal.

After finishing her studies, Marion became a teacher. She taught painting and drawing for 37 years. She worked at Concordia University. She also created a special class. It was called Women and Painting.

Marion Wagschal's paintings are very expressive. People say her images show strong feelings. They also show how time changes things. Her art often focuses on the human body.

Art Exhibitions and Collections

In 2014, a special art show was organized. It was called Marion Wagschal: Portraits, Memories Fables. This show traveled to different places. It was first seen at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. In 2015, it was shown at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
