Mark Blum (born May 14, 1950 – died March 25, 2020) was an American actor. He performed in plays, movies, and TV shows. He became well-known for his main role in the 1985 movie Desperately Seeking Susan. The next year, he had a supporting role in Crocodile Dundee.
On stage, Blum won an Obie Award for his part in the play Gus and Al in 1988–1989. Later in his career, Blum had a regular role on the Amazon Prime TV series Mozart in the Jungle from 2014 to 2018. He also appeared as a guest star on many other TV shows.

Early Life and Education
Mark Blum was born in Newark, New Jersey. His parents were Lorraine and Morton Blum. His family was Jewish. He grew up in Maplewood, New Jersey.
He went to Columbia High School and graduated in 1968. In 2012, he was added to his high school's hall of fame. After high school, he went to the University of Pennsylvania.
Acting Career
Blum started acting in plays in the 1970s. In the 1980s, he appeared in several movies. These included Lovesick (1983), Desperately Seeking Susan (1985), and Crocodile Dundee (1986). He also acted in Blind Date (1987) and The Presidio (1988). Later, he was in Coin Heist (2017).
Television Roles
On TV, he co-starred in Sweet Surrender in 1987. He also appeared on shows like Capital News (1990), Frasier (1997), and NYPD Blue (1999). From 2014 to 2018, he was a regular on Mozart in the Jungle. In 2018, Blum had a recurring role as Ivan Mooney in the thriller series You.
Stage Performances
Mark Blum won an Obie Award for his acting in the play Gus and Al. He performed at Playwrights Horizons, an off-Broadway theater in New York City. He often acted on Broadway, which is known for its big theater shows.
His Broadway plays included Neil Simon's Lost in Yonkers and Gore Vidal's The Best Man. He also appeared in Richard Greenberg's The Assembled Parties. In 2013, he played Max in The Model Apartment. Blum also taught acting at HB Studio in New York City.

Mark Blum was married to actress Janet Zarish. She appeared on TV shows like As the World Turns and One Life to Live.
Blum passed away on March 25, 2020, at the age of 69. He died from problems related to COVID-19 at New York–Presbyterian Hospital. The first episodes of season 3 of You and Succession were dedicated to his memory.
