Crocodile Dundee is a popular 1986 Australian-American romantic comedy adventure movie. It is known for its funny story and exciting scenes. The film takes place in two very different locations: the wild Australian Outback and the busy city of New York City.
The movie stars Paul Hogan as the main character, Michael "Crocodile" Dundee. Linda Kozlowski plays Sue Charlton, a reporter who meets him. The story was inspired by the real-life adventures of a man named Rodney Ansell.
Filmmakers wanted to create an Australian movie that would be popular around the world. They spent less than $10 million to make it. Crocodile Dundee became a huge success. It was one of the highest-earning movies in the United States and worldwide in 1986.
There are two slightly different versions of the film. The Australian version is a bit longer. The American and international version changed some Australian slang words. This made the movie easier for people outside Australia to understand. The movie was so popular that it led to two sequels: Crocodile Dundee II (1988) and Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles (2001).
