Marlon Hairston (born March 23, 1994) is an American professional soccer player. He plays as a midfielder or full-back. Currently, he plays for USL Championship club Hartford Athletic.

Marlon Hairston's Soccer Journey
College Soccer Days
Marlon Hairston grew up in Jackson, Mississippi. He then went to college at the University of Louisville. He played soccer for the Louisville Cardinals men's soccer team in 2012 and 2013. During his time there, he played in 39 games. He scored six goals and made five assists. In 2012, he was named to the All-Big East Rookie team. In 2013, he helped his team win the American Athletic Conference championship. He was also named First Team All-AAC that year.
Playing for Colorado Rapids

After his second year in college, Marlon joined the professional league. He signed a Generation Adidas contract. The Colorado Rapids picked him 12th overall in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft.
He played his first professional game on March 29, 2014. He came into the game as a substitute. On August 20, he scored his first professional goal. He finished his first season with one goal in 22 games. The Rapids did not have a great season that year.
In 2015, Marlon was loaned to Charlotte Independence. He played well there, scoring a goal and getting an assist in one game. Later that season, he returned to the Rapids. He started playing as a right back, which was a new position for him.
The 2016 season was a strong one for Marlon. He scored three goals and made six assists. He helped the Rapids reach the playoffs. They finished second in their conference. In the playoffs, the Rapids made it to the Conference Finals. They lost to Seattle Sounders FC, who went on to win the championship.
In 2017, Marlon scored his first goal of the season on March 18. On July 1, he scored two goals in one game. He played in all 34 league games that year. He scored three goals and had four assists. Even though Marlon played well, the Rapids did not make the playoffs. His good performance led to him being called up for the United States men's national soccer team camp.
In 2018, Marlon played in a CONCACAF Champions League match. He got a knee injury in March that needed surgery. He missed two months of playing time. He returned in June. He finished the season with 15 games played and two assists. The Rapids again missed the playoffs.
Time with Houston Dynamo
In January 2019, Marlon was traded to the Houston Dynamo. He made his Dynamo debut on February 19 in a Champions League game. He played his first MLS game for Houston on March 2. He got his first assist for the Dynamo on June 18. As the season went on, he played less. He finished the season with 12 games played. The Dynamo did not make the playoffs that year.
Playing for Minnesota United
In November 2019, Marlon was traded to Minnesota United FC. He played his first game for Minnesota on July 22, 2020. On August 1, he scored his first goal for the team. He played in nine games during the shortened 2020 season. He helped Minnesota reach the playoffs. They won their first two playoff games. However, they lost in the Conference Final to Seattle Sounders FC. He was released by the club in December 2020.
Joining Columbus Crew
On March 3, 2021, Marlon joined the Columbus Crew. He was first signed to play right back. But due to injuries to other players, he ended up playing in the midfield.
Hartford Athletic Today
Marlon Hairston joined USL Championship club Hartford Athletic on January 18, 2024. He continues to play for them.
International Soccer
Marlon was first called to a US national team camp in April 2013. This was for the Under-20 team. In January 2018, he was called up to the senior United States men's national soccer team. This was for a friendly game against Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, he did not play in that game.
About Marlon's Family
Marlon's older brother, Marcus, also played college soccer. He played at the University of Cincinnati and Florida International University. His soccer career ended early due to a knee injury. Marlon's cousin is LaMarcus Aldridge, a famous basketball player. LaMarcus was an NBA All-Star seven times.
