Marlon Alexander Stöckinger, born on April 4, 1991, is a talented racing driver from the Philippines and Switzerland. He races under the Philippine flag. He last competed in the 2016 GT Series Sprint Cup for ISR Racing. Marlon is famous for being the first Filipino to win a formula race in Europe. This big win happened on June 19, 2010, at the Croft Circuit in the 2010 Formula Renault 2.0 UK Championship. Before his formula racing career, he was also a champion in karting. He won the Asian Karting Championship in 2006 and the Philippine Rotax Max Championship in 2007.

Early Life and Racing Start

Marlon Stöckinger was born in Manila, Philippines. His father, Tom Stöckinger, is a Swiss businessman who loves racing. His mother is Egin San Pedro from the Philippines. Marlon grew up in the Philippines. When he was 17, he moved to Europe. He wanted to follow his dream of becoming a professional car racer.

Early Racing Success

Before joining the Formula Renault series, Marlon Stöckinger won many awards. He was a champion in international karting events. These included the Asian Karting Championship in 2006. He also won the Senior Rotax Max World Finals in 2007. In 2008, he won a scholarship for Formula BMW Pacific. He also raced as a guest driver in the 2008 Formula BMW Europe season.

Formula Renault UK Races (2009–2010)

Marlon started racing in the UK championship in 2009. He was 18 years old. He finished 25th in the championship that year. His best finish was eleventh place.

The next year, in 2010, he started strong. He finished third at Rockingham Motor Speedway. This was his best result in two seasons. Then, at the Croft Circuit, he started from the very front (pole position). He won the race! This made him the first Filipino to win a formula race in Europe. He then finished second in another race at the same circuit.

GP3 Series (2011–2012)

In 2011, Marlon moved to the GP3 series. He raced for Atech CRS Grand Prix. He continued to improve his skills.

In 2012, he joined Status Grand Prix. He had been testing with them and impressed the team. Marlon achieved his first win in the GP3 Series at Monaco. He also got his first pole position there. This means he started the race from the very front. He also set the fastest lap in that race.

Formula Renault 3.5 Series (2013-2015)

In February 2013, Marlon joined the Lotus F1 Team. He became one of their junior team drivers. Lotus supported him in many ways. They helped him with driving skills and physical fitness. They also helped with his mental development. This was all to prepare him for his future racing career.

Marlon continued to drive for Lotus F1 in the 2014 Formula Renault 3.5 season. He raced alongside Matthieu Vaxivière.

GP2 Series (2015)

In March 2015, Marlon reunited with Status Grand Prix. He became one of their drivers for the 2015 GP2 Series season. He raced in 21 events that year. His best finish was 11th place.

Other Activities

Marlon Stöckinger was also a presenter for Top Gear Philippines. He worked with other famous personalities like Richard Gomez and Apl.de.ap.

Personal Life

Marlon Stöckinger is a Catholic. He was in a relationship with Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach from 2017 to 2019. He also has twin daughters with model Kit Barraquias.
