Marquay McDaniel (born April 20, 1984) is a football coach for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He is their receivers coach in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Before becoming a coach, he was a professional Canadian football player. He played as a wide receiver for 10 seasons in the CFL. He spent six seasons with the Calgary Stampeders and four with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
McDaniel first joined the Denver Broncos in 2007. He played college football for the Hampton Pirates. In 2013, he was named a CFL All-Star. He also won a Grey Cup championship in 2014.

Playing Career Highlights
Marquay McDaniel had an exciting career as a wide receiver. He was known for his speed and ability to catch the ball. He played for two main teams in the CFL.
Time with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats
McDaniel started his CFL career with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. In his first season in 2009, he played in all 18 games. He led the CFL in "all-purpose yards," which means he gained the most yards from catching, returning kicks, and returning punts. He had 688 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He was even nominated for the CFL's Most Outstanding Rookie Award.
In 2010, he continued to play well. He started all 18 games and had 998 receiving yards. He also caught seven touchdowns. In 2011, he played only one game for Hamilton. He then joined the Calgary Stampeders.
Playing for the Calgary Stampeders
McDaniel found great success with the Calgary Stampeders. In 2012, he played 14 games and caught 53 passes for 744 yards. He scored his first two touchdowns as a Stampeder in September 2012.
The 2013 season was a big one for him. He started all 18 games and led his team in receiving yards. He gained 1,047 yards and scored eight touchdowns. This was the first time he reached over 1,000 receiving yards in a season. He was recognized as a West Division All-Star and a CFL All-Star.
In 2014, McDaniel helped the Stampeders win the Grey Cup. He was the team's top receiver for the second year in a row. He broke his arm during the season but returned to play in the final game. He had 12 catches for 165 yards in that game. In the Grey Cup, he caught seven passes for 61 yards. The Stampeders won the championship, beating his old team, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, 20-16.
He continued to play well in 2015 and 2016. In 2015, he had 86 catches for 1,038 yards. He also set a CFL record by catching five two-point converts. In 2016, he had his third season with over 1,000 receiving yards. He led the Stampeders in receiving yards for the third time. He played his 100th regular-season game in June 2016. In 2017, he led the Stamps in receiving yards for the fourth year in a row. He left the Stampeders in February 2018.
Return to Hamilton Tiger-Cats
In September 2018, McDaniel rejoined the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He was first on the practice team. This allowed him to also coach at McMaster University. He later played in four games, catching eight passes for 65 yards.

Coaching Career
After a successful playing career, Marquay McDaniel moved into coaching. He has coached for several teams.
Coaching at McMaster University
Before joining the Hamilton Tiger-Cats again as a player, McDaniel was a guest coach for the Calgary Stampeders. He then became the receivers coach at McMaster University. He continued this role even while playing for the Tiger-Cats in 2018.
Offensive Assistant for Montreal Alouettes
In June 2019, McDaniel was hired by the Montreal Alouettes. He worked as an offensive assistant coach for them.
Receivers Coach for Calgary Stampeders
McDaniel returned to the Calgary Stampeders in 2020. He became their receivers coach. He held this position for two seasons.
Current Role with Saskatchewan Roughriders
On January 15, 2024, it was announced that Marquay McDaniel would join the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He is currently their receivers coach.
