Marrawah is a small town in Tasmania, Australia. It is located on the island's west coast. This town is part of the Circular Head Council area. In 2006, about 407 people lived here.

Marrawah is the westernmost town on mainland Tasmania. It is also the furthest town from Hobart, Tasmania's capital city. The town is about 491 kilometers (305 miles) northwest of Hobart. It is also about 292 kilometers (181 miles) northwest of Launceston. Marrawah is at the end of the A2 highway, which is a main sealed road.

This town used to be the end of a railway line. It was called the Smithton to Marrawah Tramway. Today, the main jobs in Marrawah are farming, especially dairy farming. Tourism is also an important activity.

The area around Marrawah has special Aboriginal sites. These include ancient carvings. You can find them at Mount Cameron West and Sundown Point.

Near Marrawah, there is a place called Green Point Beach. It is very popular for water sports. People enjoy surfing, kitesurfing, and windsurfing there.

You can see the Woolnorth Wind Farm from Marrawah. This wind farm is on Cape Grim. It is visible in the distance to the north of the town.

History of Marrawah

The Marrawah Post Office first opened on March 1, 1897. This was an important step for the town. It helped people send and receive mail.

Later, another post office opened in 1921. It was called Marrawah East. In 1926, its name changed to Redpa. This office stayed open for many years. It finally closed in 1987.
