Martin Campbell, born on October 24, 1943, is a famous film and TV director from New Zealand. He is known for directing exciting action and thriller movies. He has directed two James Bond films: GoldenEye (1995) and Casino Royale (2006).
He also directed The Mask of Zorro (1998) and its sequel The Legend of Zorro (2005). Other well-known films include Vertical Limit (2000) and The Foreigner (2017). Earlier in his career, he directed the TV show Edge of Darkness (1985). This show won him a British Academy Television Award for Best Director.

Martin Campbell's Career
Martin Campbell was born in Hastings, New Zealand. He later moved to London, England, to start his career. In the 1970s, he began directing action TV shows.
Directing James Bond Films
Campbell is famous for directing two different James Bond movies. He directed GoldenEye in 1995, which starred Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. Later, in 2006, he directed Casino Royale, introducing Daniel Craig as the new James Bond. Campbell said he liked directing a new Bond actor.
Other Popular Movies
He also directed two movies about the hero Zorro. These were The Mask of Zorro (1998) and The Legend of Zorro (2005). Both films starred Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Campbell also directed the 2011 superhero film Green Lantern, based on the DC Comics character. In 2017, he directed The Foreigner, starring the famous actor Jackie Chan.
Television Work
On television, Campbell directed the movie Cast a Deadly Spell. He also directed some action-packed episodes of the TV series The Professionals (1977–1983).
His most famous TV work is the 1985 BBC Television drama Edge of Darkness. He won a British Academy Television Award for Best Director for this show. Campbell later directed a movie version of Edge of Darkness in 2010. This film starred Mel Gibson. He also directed the first episode of the US TV series Last Resort.
Personal Life
Martin Campbell has been married to Sol E. Romero since 2006. Before that, he was married to Valarie Trapp from 2002 to 2006.
