Martin Hunt (July 9, 1873 – July 22, 1938) was an American Private in the United States Marine Corps. He was very brave during the Boxer Rebellion and received the Medal of Honor.

Biography of Martin Hunt
Early Life and Military Service
Martin Hunt was born on July 9, 1873, in County Mayo, Ireland. Later, he moved to the United States. He joined the Marine Corps in Boston, Massachusetts, on August 27, 1896.
After joining, he was sent to China to help during the Boxer Rebellion. This was a conflict where a group in China called the Boxers fought against foreign influence.
Bravery in the Boxer Rebellion
Hunt showed great courage in Peking, China (now Beijing). His brave actions took place between June 20 and July 16, 1900. For his bravery, he was awarded the Medal of Honor.
The Medal of Honor is the highest award for military bravery in the United States. Martin Hunt received his medal on July 19, 1901.
Later Life
Martin Hunt left the Marine Corps on August 26, 1901. He then moved to the Philippines. He lived there until his death on July 22, 1938.
