Maryam Zakaria is an actress and model from Iran. She acts in Indian films, including movies in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil. She is well-known for her roles in films like Madatha Kaja, Agent Vinod, and Grand Masti.
Her Career Journey
In Sweden, Maryam Zakaria worked as a model. She was also a dance teacher and choreographer. She even started her own Bollywood dance school called Indisk Dans Studio. This was the first school in Sweden to teach Bollywood dance moves.
In 2009, she moved to Mumbai, India, to work in Bollywood. She began modeling and appeared in many TV commercials. Some of her most famous ads were for Set Wet, Layz, and Coke. She also appeared in a Coca-Cola advertisement with actor Imran Khan.
Breaking into Films
A Tamil film director named Sundar C saw her dance videos on YouTube. He then asked her to perform a special dance number in his film Nagaram (2010).
Her big break came with the popular song "Diyalo Diyala" from the film 100% Love. After this, she played a main female role in another Telugu film, Madatha Kaja (2011). She acted alongside Allari Naresh in this movie. In 2012, she performed another dance number called "Dilli Ki Billi" in the film Sadda Adda.
Gaining Fame in Bollywood
In the Saif Ali Khan film Agent Vinod, Maryam played the character Farah. She performed a traditional dance called a mujra in the song "Dil Mera Muft Ka." She danced alongside Kareena Kapoor in this song. This performance helped her become famous in Bollywood.
In 2012, she signed up for Indra Kumar's movie Grand Masti. She played a main role opposite Aftab Shivdasani. The film was released on September 13, 2013. Grand Masti became a very successful film in India.
Personal Life
Maryam Zakaria married choreographer Arvind Thakur in 2012. They had a son named Aryan Thakur in 2013.
