María del Monte Vasco Pes Gallardo, born on December 26, 1975, in Viladecans, is a famous Spanish race walker. She is known for winning important medals in this challenging sport. María won a bronze medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. She also earned a bronze medal at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka. Besides these, she has won gold and bronze medals at the IAAF Race Walking Championships. She grew up near Barcelona, in Catalonia, Spain.

María Vasco's Amazing Race Walking Career
María Vasco is one of Spain's most successful race walkers. She competed in many big events around the world.
Early Years and First Steps
María started competing internationally when she was young. In 1990, she took part in the World Junior Championships in Bulgaria. She continued to improve, finishing 6th at the World Junior Championships in South Korea in 1992. By 1997, she won a silver medal at the European Under-23 Championships in Finland.
Olympic and World Championship Success
María Vasco made history at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. She won a bronze medal in the 20-kilometer race walk. This was a huge achievement for her and for Spain.
Seven years later, in 2007, she earned another bronze medal at the World Championships in Osaka, Japan. This showed her consistent performance at the highest level.
María competed in five Olympic Games in total. After her bronze in 2000, she finished 7th at the 2004 Athens Olympics. She placed 5th at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 10th at the 2012 London Olympics.
