Masahiro Ota was born in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. He loved playing football when he was young. After studying at Doshisha University, he became a professional football player.
Playing for JEF United Ichihara
In 1993, Ota joined his first professional team, JEF United Ichihara. He played as a goalkeeper for them. He got to play in a few games. But he was often a backup player. Another good goalkeeper, Kenichi Shimokawa, usually played more than him.
Time with Urawa Reds
In 1995, Masahiro Ota moved to a new team, Urawa Reds. He hoped to play more matches there. But at Urawa Reds, he faced tough competition. Two other goalkeepers, Hisashi Tsuchida and Yuki Takita, were often chosen to play. Because of this, Ota did not play in any official matches for Urawa Reds. He stayed with the team until the end of the 1997 season. After that, he decided to stop playing professional football.
