History of Matama
Matama officially became a district on August 10, 1992. This happened through a special government decision known as Decreto Ejecutivo 21515-G.
Geography of Matama
Matama covers a total area of about 339.13 square kilometers. To give you an idea, that's a pretty large piece of land! The district is also located about 17 meters above sea level. This means it's not very high up, but rather close to the coast.
