The Matarraña River (also known as Río Matarraña in Spanish) is a cool river in Spain. It flows through two provinces in the region of Aragon: Teruel and Zaragoza. This river is about 100 kilometers (62 miles) long.
The Matarraña River starts high up in the mountains, about 1,200 meters (3,937 feet) above sea level. Its source is in a rocky area called the Puertos de Tortosa-Beceite mountains. From there, the river flows generally from the south towards the north. It eventually joins the much larger Ebro River, which is one of the longest rivers in Spain. The Matarraña River also gives its name to a nearby area called the Matarraña comarca.
