Matiu's Musical Start
Matthew Vachon began his music career by competing in a show called Le Rythme in 2016. This show was on APTN. It featured talented First Nations musicians.
In 2017, Matiu released his first music collection, a self-titled EP. An EP is like a mini-album with fewer songs. The next year, in 2018, he released his first full-length album. It was called Petikat.
Working with Other Artists
Matiu is also part of a music group called the Nikamu Mamuitun collective. This group was started by Florent Vollant, another well-known musician.
The collective includes several other artists. Some of these artists are Marcie Michaud-Gagnon, Joëlle St-Pierre, and Chloé Lacasse. Other members include Scott-Pien Picard, Kanen, Cédrik St-Onge, and Ivan Boivin. They all work together to create music.
