Matt worked with many famous musicians. He often played with Memphis Slim. They even made an album together called At the Gate of Horn in 1959.

Matt didn't have his own band until 1982. But he was always busy playing music. He worked in studios and on stage with many stars. Some of these musicians included Ike Turner, Muddy Waters, James Cotton, and Etta James. He also played with Sonny Boy Williamson II, Chuck Berry, and Joe Louis Walker.

In 1963, Matt gave a memorable performance in Europe. This was during the American Folk Blues Festival tour. His special song was called "Matt's Guitar Boogie." It showed off his incredible guitar skills.

Later Years and Legacy

In 2003, Matt Murphy had a stroke. This is a medical event that can affect how a person moves or speaks. But Matt was strong and determined. He returned to playing music just a few years later.

Matt Murphy passed away on June 15, 2018. He was 88 years old. He died in Miami, Florida from a heart attack. Matt "Guitar" Murphy left behind a great legacy. He is remembered as one of the most talented blues guitarists.
