Matt Walsh (born October 13, 1964) is an American comedian and actor. He is well-known for his role as Mike McLintock in the TV show Veep. This role earned him two nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award.
He is also one of the people who started the Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB). This is a famous comedy group that performs sketch comedy. He also appeared in their original TV series and a newer version in 2015. Matt Walsh has been in other comedy shows too, like Dog Bites Man and Players. He was also a reporter for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. You might have seen him in movies such as Bad Santa, Role Models, and The Do-Over.

Early Life and Education
Matt Walsh was born in Chicago, Illinois. He was one of seven children in his family. He went to Hinsdale South High School and played football there.
After high school, he studied Psychology at Northern Illinois University. He even spent a year studying abroad in Austria at Salzburg College.
Comedy Career Beginnings
After college, Matt Walsh started taking improvisational comedy classes in Chicago. He became a regular performer at places like the Annoyance Theater and ImprovOlympic. He learned from a famous improv teacher named Del Close.
In 1991, he met another comedian, Matt Besser. They started doing stand-up comedy together. Matt Walsh, Matt Besser, Amy Poehler, and Ian Roberts are the founding members of the Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB). This group performs improv comedy.
The Upright Citizens Brigade
The UCB group had their own sketch comedy TV series. It ran for three seasons on Comedy Central. Before the TV show, the UCB group performed improv shows at their theater in New York. They turned an old burlesque house into their comedy theater.
Today, the UCB has started four successful comedy theaters. Two are in New York City (UCB Chelsea and The East Village UCB). The other two are in Los Angeles (UCB Franklin and UCB Sunset).
Film and Television Roles
Besides his work with the Upright Citizens Brigade, Matt Walsh has been in many popular comedy movies. These include Old School, Starsky & Hutch, Be Kind Rewind, and Ted. He also wrote and starred in an independent comedy film called Martin & Orloff.
Matt Walsh was a reporter for The Daily Show from 2001 to 2002. He also appeared often in comedy sketches on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. He was also in MTV's Human Giant. In 2006, he starred in the mockumentary series Dog Bites Man on Comedy Central. He has appeared in several comedy films by director Todd Phillips. In these movies, he often plays characters named "Walsh."
In 2010, Matt Walsh created a comedy series called Players for Spike TV. He was the creator, writer, director, and executive producer of the show. He also starred in it with his Upright Citizens Brigade partner Ian Roberts. They played two brothers who run a sports bar together. The show ran for one season.
