Mau Power, whose real name is Patrick James Mau, is a cool hip hop artist. He comes from Thursday Island in the Torres Strait Islands, Australia. He was the very first rapper from this area to tour all over Australia! Mau Power also started his own company called One Blood Hidden Image. This company is special because it's the first independent record label, film, and media company from the Torres Strait.

Mau Power's Music Journey
Mau Power recorded his first song when he was just 17 years old. This happened in Brisbane while he was studying at the University of Southern Queensland.
Early Career and Productions
In 2012, Mau Power worked as a producer for a show called Our Stories. This show was on National Indigenous Television (NITV).
His second album, The Show Will Go On, came out in 2014. It took him two years to record this album, and it tells his own life story. A famous song from this album is a new version of "My Island Home". Mau Power even performed this song with Christine Anu at the 2018 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony. This big event took place on the Gold Coast in Australia.
In 2015, Mau Power was chosen for a special program by Screen Australia. This program helps new Indigenous film producers. He has also made documentaries and music videos for TV channels like NITV, SBS, and ABC. His company also creates videos for health and education groups.

Mau Power has toured all over Australia and even in other countries. He has worked with other amazing Australian musicians like Archie Roach and Christine Anu.
Eddie Mabo's daughter, Gail Mabo, asked Mau Power to sing a special song she wrote for her father. This was for the 20th anniversary of the Mabo decision. This important decision changed how land ownership was seen in Australia.
On Australia Day in 2020 (January 26), Mau Power was a special guest performer. He sang at an Indigenous Smoking Ceremony in Sydney.

Mau Power grew up on Thursday Island in the Torres Strait. He is a Dhoebaw man from the Guda Malullgal nations. He is guided by two important parts of his life: his Indigenous (Torres Strait Islander) culture and hip hop music.
He once went through a difficult time in 2001. This experience made him think deeply about his life. He then decided to focus on his music. He says his music is all about inspiring other people.
