Moudud Ahmed was a well-known figure in Bangladeshi politics. He served his country in several key positions. He was a member of the Jatiya Sangsad, which is like the parliament or main law-making body of Bangladesh. He was a part of this important group during three different periods: from 1979 to 1982, from 1986 to 1996, and from 2001 to 2006.

Serving as Prime Minister
One of his most important roles was serving as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. He held this position from 1988 to 1989. At that time, he was part of General Ershad's political party. The Prime Minister is the head of the government, leading the country's daily operations.
Other Important Roles
After his time as Prime Minister, Moudud Ahmed took on another significant role. From 1989 to 1990, he was the Vice President of Bangladesh. This was during the last year of Hussain Muhammad Ershad's time as president. The Vice President often helps the president and can take over if needed.
Later, he also served as the Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. He held this job from 2001 to 2006. This was when Khaleda Zia's Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) was in power.
