Maurice Edward Johnson is a former American football player. He was born on January 9, 1967. Maurice played as a tight end in the National Football League (NFL). He spent four seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. Before joining the NFL, he played college football at Temple University. He was also part of the Frankfurt Galaxy team.

Playing College Football
Maurice played college football for the Temple Owls. He was on the team from 1986 to 1989. In 1986, his first year, he caught eight passes. He gained 42 yards from these catches.
In 1987, he caught 14 passes. He scored one touchdown that year. By 1988, he had 18 catches. He gained 242 yards for his team. In his final year, 1989, Maurice had a great season. He caught 31 passes for 290 yards. Because of his strong performance, he was named second-team All-East.
Maurice Johnson's Pro Career
Maurice Johnson was not chosen in the 1990 NFL draft. However, the Philadelphia Eagles signed him on May 24, 1990. He was later released by the team. But he rejoined them on their practice squad. A practice squad is where players train with the team. They can be called up to play if needed.
Maurice signed with the Eagles again in 1991. That year, he played in 12 games. He started six of those games. He caught six passes and scored two touchdowns. In 1992, he played in 11 games. He caught two passes that season. He also played in two playoff games.
In 1993, Maurice played in all 16 games. He caught 10 passes for the Eagles. He continued to play well. In 1994, he played in all 16 games again. This was his best year for starts, with ten games. He caught 21 passes and scored two touchdowns. The Eagles released him in 1995.
After his time with the Eagles, Maurice joined the Frankfurt Galaxy. This team was part of the World League of American Football. He was with them in 1996. However, he did not play in any games for the Galaxy.
