Max Brallier (born September 8, 1983) is a popular American author best known for writing exciting and adventurous books for children and young adults.
He has created many imaginative stories that kids love to read. He was born on September 8, 1983, and has written over 30 books throughout his career. While he has written different types of books, he is most famous for his work in children's literature, particularly the action-packed and funny The Last Kids on Earth series. This series has been so popular that it was even turned into a TV show by Netflix, bringing his characters and stories to life for even more fans!

Early Life and Education
Max Brallier was born in Belmont, Massachusetts. When he was four years old, his family moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Later, in third grade (around 1991), they moved again to Reading, Massachusetts. This town became an important place for him, as he attended Joshua Eaton Elementary School and then Parker Middle School. Interestingly, the middle school in his famous The Last Kids on Earth series is actually based on Parker Middle School!
Growing up, Max enjoyed reading different kinds of books. He liked books by David Macaulay, who is known for explaining how things work with detailed illustrations, and the Where's Waldo? books, which are fun search-and-find adventures. His absolute favorite book was Bart Simpson's Guide to Life, showing he had a good sense of humor even as a kid.
After finishing Reading Memorial High School in 2001, Max went on to study at Ithaca College. He graduated in 2005 with a degree in film. This background in film might have helped him create such visual and action-packed stories later in his writing career!
Becoming a writer
Before becoming a full-time author, Max Brallier worked in different jobs. He worked in marketing at a publishing company called St. Martin's Press. He also worked as a game designer for a popular online virtual world for kids called Poptropica. This experience in game design likely influenced his ability to create engaging worlds and exciting challenges in his books.
Max has mentioned that he knew he wanted to be a writer from different points in his life. In some interviews, he says he wanted to write stories from the age of 14. In other accounts, he felt sure about being a writer after publishing his first book.
He started writing children's books under a different name, a pen name, called Jack Chabert, in 2014. His first series under this name was called Eerie Elementary. He also wrote a graphic novel for Poptropica called Poptropica: Mystery of the Map in 2016, using the Jack Chabert name.
