Maxence "Max" Parrot is a famous Canadian snowboarder. He was born on June 6, 1994, in Cowansville, Quebec. Max is an Olympic champion! He won a gold medal in Slopestyle at the 2022 Winter Olympics. He also won a silver medal in slopestyle at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Max has won many gold medals at the Winter X Games and Winter X Games Europe.

Maxence Parrot's Early Life

Max Parrot grew up near the Bromont ski area in Quebec. He started skiing when he was three years old. At age nine, he discovered snowboarding and loved it. His father, Alain Parrot, was also a great athlete. He was an alpine ski racer and a Canadian waterski champion.

Max Parrot has made history in snowboarding several times. He is known for trying new and difficult tricks.

Making Snowboarding History

  • In 2013, he landed the first-ever Backside Triple Cork in an X Games Slopestyle event.
  • In 2014, Max was the first to do two Triple jumps in a row during a Slopestyle run at the X Games.
  • In April 2015, he performed the first Cab Quadruple Underflip 1620.
  • In January 2016, he brought the Cab 1800 Triple Cork into a competition. He did this at the X Games in Aspen. This trick helped him win his second Big Air gold medal.

Max competes in slopestyle and Big air events. He represented Canada at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

Olympic Achievements

Max competed for Canada at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea. His first event was slopestyle. He did very well in the qualifying round, getting the highest score. In the final, he had a tough start. He fell on his first two runs. But on his last run, he landed a perfect score of 86.00. This amazing run earned him a silver medal! His teammate Mark McMorris won the bronze medal. Max said his helmet saved him after his falls. He was very happy to land his final run and win a medal.

Overcoming Challenges

In early 2019, Max Parrot faced a big challenge. He was diagnosed with a type of cancer called Hodgkin Lymphoma. He had to go through 12 rounds of chemotherapy for six months. Max recovered later that year. He made an amazing comeback to competition. He won a gold medal at the 2020 Winter X Games. He even beat his fellow Canadian, Mark McMorris, in that event.

Max was part of Canada's team for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. He started in the slopestyle event. He finished 10th in the qualifying round. This meant he would start third in the final. In his second run of the final, he scored 90.96. No one could beat this score! Max won the gold medal.

Winning gold was very special for Max. It came after a tough four years. He recovered from cancer and then stood on top of the Olympic podium. Max said it was "the best run of his life." He was very proud of how he completed every part of the course. He also talked about his recovery from cancer. He said that after chemotherapy, you have no energy or muscles. To be back at the Olympics and win gold felt amazing. Max finished his Olympics with a bronze medal in the big air event.

After the 2022 Olympics, Max announced he would take a break from competing for the 2022-2023 season. However, he planned to keep training.

Maxence Parrot's Personal Life

On January 17, 2019, Max Parrot shared that he had been diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in December 2018. He started a six-month treatment plan. Max announced in 2019 that he had successfully beaten Hodgkin's lymphoma. He returned to competing that same year.

Max filmed a documentary about his experience with cancer. It is called "MAX- Life as a Gold Medal." He also became a spokesperson for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada. Max is engaged to his fiancée, Kayla. They have two sons: Blake, born in May 2022, and Louka, born in December 2023.
