Maxence "Max" Parrot (born June 6, 1994) is a famous Canadian snowboarder. He is an Olympic champion in slopestyle, winning a gold medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics. He also won a silver medal in the same event at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Max Parrot has earned many gold medals at the Winter X Games and the Winter X Games Europe.

Early Life and Snowboarding Start

Maxence Parrot grew up near the Bromont ski area in Quebec, Canada. He started skiing when he was just three years old. Later, at age nine, he discovered snowboarding and loved it. His father, Alain Parrot, was also a talented athlete. He was an alpine ski racer and a Canadian waterski champion.

Max Parrot's Amazing Snowboarding Career

Max Parrot has made history in snowboarding several times. He is known for performing incredible tricks.

Making History with Big Tricks

In 2013, Max was the first to land a "Backside Triple Cork" in an X Games Slopestyle event. A year later, in 2014, he was the first to do "consecutive Triple jumps" in a Slopestyle run at the X Games.

In April 2015, Max performed the very first "Cab Quadruple Underflip 1620." This was a huge achievement! In January 2016, he brought the "Cab 1800 Triple Cork" into competition at the X Games in Aspen. This amazing trick helped him win his second Big Air gold medal.

Olympic Journey and Medals

Max Parrot has represented Canada at the Winter Olympics. He competed in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

2018 Pyeongchang Olympics

At the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea, Max competed in the slopestyle event. He qualified for the final with the highest score. In the final, he had a tough start, falling on his first two runs. But on his last try, he landed a perfect run, scoring 86.00 points. This earned him a silver medal! His teammate, Mark McMorris, won the bronze medal. Max was very happy, saying his helmet saved him and allowed him to finish strong.

Overcoming Cancer and 2022 Beijing Olympics Gold

In early 2019, Maxence Parrot was diagnosed with a type of blood cancer called Hodgkin Lymphoma. He bravely went through 12 rounds of chemotherapy for six months. He recovered later that year and made an incredible comeback to snowboarding.

He won a gold medal at the 2020 Winter X Games, even beating Mark McMorris. This showed his amazing strength and determination.

Max was part of Canada's team for the 2022 Winter Olympics. In the slopestyle final, his second run scored 90.96 points. No one could beat this score, and Max won the gold medal! This victory was extra special because it came after his battle with cancer. Max said it was "the best run of his life" and felt amazing to be back on the podium with a gold medal. He also won a bronze medal in the big air event at the same Olympics.

After the 2022 Olympics, Max announced he would take a break from competing for the 2022-2023 season. However, he continued to train.

Max Parrot's Personal Life

On January 17, 2019, Maxence Parrot shared that he had been diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. He started chemotherapy treatments soon after. By 2019, he announced that he had beaten the cancer and returned to his sport.

Max filmed a documentary called "MAX- Life as a Gold Medal." This film shares his journey with cancer and his path to becoming an Olympic champion. He also became a spokesperson for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada. Max is engaged to his fiancée, Kayla. They have two sons: Blake, born in May 2022, and Louka, born in December 2023.
