How McDaniel Lake Was Created
McDaniel Lake is a man-made lake, also called a reservoir. It was created in 1929 by building a dam across the Little Sac River. This makes it one of the oldest man-made dams in the area! For example, the dam at Fellows Lake was built much later, in 1957.
In 1992, the dam at McDaniel Lake was made taller. This helped the lake hold even more water. You can see the dam more easily now from the nearby bridge.
