McKinley Wright IV (born October 25, 1998) is an American professional basketball player. He plays as a point guard for Dubai Basketball. This team competes in the ABA League and the EuroLeague. Before turning professional, he played college basketball for the Colorado Buffaloes.

Early Life and High School Basketball
McKinley Wright IV grew up in Champlin, Minnesota. He is the son of McKinley Wright III. He went to Champlin Park High School. In his final year, he was a star player. He averaged 23 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists per game.
He helped his team achieve an amazing 31–1 record. They reached the 4A state championship game. They lost a close game to Apple Valley High School. Wright scored 30 points in a state quarterfinal win. In 2017, he was named Minnesota Mr. Basketball. This award goes to the best high school player in Minnesota.
He first planned to play for Dayton. But he changed his mind when their coach left. In April 2017, Wright decided to join the Colorado team.
College Basketball Career
McKinley Wright played college basketball for the Colorado Buffaloes. He quickly made a big impact. On December 15, 2017, he had a fantastic game. He scored 30 points and made 11 assists. This helped his team win in double overtime.
As a freshman, Wright averaged 14.2 points per game. He also had 5.5 assists and 4.7 rebounds. He was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team. His 175 assists broke a freshman record. After his first year, he worked to improve his jump shot.
In his second year, he was named first-team All-Pac-12. He played through a shoulder injury that caused him pain. After the season, he had surgery to fix it. He scored a season-high 29 points against Dayton. This was the team he almost joined in high school.
As a junior, Wright continued to excel. He averaged 14.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.0 assists. After this season, he thought about joining the NBA draft. But he decided to return for his senior year.
In his senior year, he averaged 15.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.7 assists. He earned Pac-12 All-First Team honors again. After this season, he declared for the 2021 NBA draft. He decided to start his professional career.
Professional Basketball Journey
Starting in the NBA and G League (2021–2023)
McKinley Wright IV was not chosen in the 2021 NBA draft. However, he still got a chance to play in the NBA. On August 6, 2021, he signed a special contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves. This was a "two-way contract." It meant he could play for both the Timberwolves and their G League team, the Iowa Wolves.
In September 2022, Wright joined the Dallas Mavericks. After their training camp, his contract was also changed to a two-way deal. He played for the Mavericks and their G League team, the Texas Legends.
Playing in Europe (2023–Present)
On July 22, 2023, Wright moved to Europe. He signed with Budućnost VOLI. This team plays in the Montenegrin League. In his first season with Budućnost, he averaged 10.5 points and 4.3 assists. He helped his team win the Montenegrin League championship in 2024.
During the 2024–25 season, Wright played even better. He averaged 12.8 points and 4.9 assists. His strong performance earned him a big award. He was named the ABA League MVP. He was also chosen for the ABA League Ideal Starting Five. This means he was one of the top five players in the league. His team also won the Montenegrin Basketball Cup in 2025.
On July 10, 2025, Wright signed a two-year contract with Dubai Basketball. He continues his professional career there.
