McKinley Wright IV (born October 25, 1998) is an American professional basketball player. He plays for a team called Budućnost VOLI in Montenegro. This team is part of the Erste Liga and ABA League. Before playing professionally, McKinley played college basketball for the Colorado Buffaloes.

Early Life and High School Basketball
McKinley Wright IV grew up in Champlin, Minnesota. His father is McKinley Wright III. He went to Champlin Park High School.
During his final year of high school, McKinley was a star player. He averaged 23 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists per game. He helped his team achieve an amazing 31 wins and only 1 loss. They even made it to the 4A state championship game. Although they lost to Apple Valley High School, McKinley scored 30 points in a key quarterfinal win. In 2017, he was named Minnesota Mr. Basketball, a big honor for high school players.
McKinley first planned to play college basketball at Dayton. However, their coach left for another team. So, McKinley decided to look at other colleges. In April 2017, he chose to play for Colorado.
College Career at Colorado
McKinley Wright IV had a great college career with the Colorado Buffaloes.
Freshman Season (2017-2018)
On December 15, 2017, McKinley had an outstanding game. He scored 30 points and made 11 assists. This helped the Buffaloes win a double-overtime game against South Dakota State. As a freshman, he averaged 14.2 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.7 rebounds per game. His team finished the season with 17 wins and 15 losses.
McKinley was recognized for his skills. He was named to the Pac-12 Conference All-Freshman Team. He also received honorable mentions for the All-Pac-12 Team and All-Defensive Team. His 175 assists broke a freshman record at Colorado. After this season, he even worked with famous basketball player Chauncey Billups to improve his jump shot.
Sophomore and Junior Seasons (2018-2020)
In his second year, McKinley was named first-team All-Pac-12. He averaged 13 points and 4.8 assists per game. He played through a shoulder injury that needed surgery after the season. He scored a season-high 29 points in a close overtime win against Dayton.
As a junior, McKinley averaged 14.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. After this season, he thought about entering the 2020 NBA draft. But on August 1, he decided to return to Colorado for his senior year.
Senior Season (2020-2021)
In his final college season, McKinley averaged 15.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. He earned Pac-12 All-First Team honors again. After this successful season, McKinley decided to enter the 2021 NBA draft.
Professional Basketball Career
Minnesota Timberwolves and Iowa Wolves (2021–2022)
McKinley Wright IV was not chosen in the 2021 NBA draft. However, he still got a chance to play professionally. On August 6, 2021, he signed a two-way contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves. This type of contract means he split his time between the Timberwolves and their G League team, the Iowa Wolves.
Dallas Mavericks and Texas Legends (2022–2023)
In September 2022, McKinley signed with the Dallas Mavericks. After their training camp, his contract was changed to a two-way contract on October 15, 2022. This meant he also played for the Mavericks' G League team, the Texas Legends.
Budućnost VOLI (2023–Present)
On July 22, 2023, McKinley Wright IV signed with Budućnost VOLI. This team plays in the Montenegrin League.
