McLeod (also called Sandoun) is a small community in Ransom County, North Dakota, United States. It is known as a census-designated place. This means it's an area that the U.S. Census Bureau defines for counting people, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. It's also an unincorporated community.
McLeod was first counted in the 2010 Census, where 27 people lived there. By the 2020 Census, the population was 22.
The community is located along North Dakota Highway 27. It is east of Lisbon, which is the main town and county seat of Ransom County. McLeod was originally named Sandoun because of the many sand dunes in the area. Later, it was renamed McLeod after a local real estate agent named J. J. McLeod.
