Meaher State Park is a fun outdoor area in Spanish Fort, Alabama. It is a public park located on Big Island, which is at the northern end of Mobile Bay. The park covers about 1,327 acres (537 ha) of land. It sits along the shore of Ducker Bay, where Mobile Bay meets the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta.
The park is surrounded by amazing wetlands. These wetlands are part of the Mobile Bay estuary, where fresh river water mixes with salty bay water. You can get to the park from Battleship Parkway, also known as the "Causeway". The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources manages the park.

Park History
Meaher State Park first opened its doors in 1989. The land for the park was given to the state for everyone to enjoy. It was donated by Augustine Meaher. The park is named after his family.
Awards and Recognition
In September 2020, Meaher State Park received a special award. It was one of eleven Alabama State Parks to get Tripadvisor’s Traveler’s Choice Award. This award is given to places that consistently get great reviews from visitors. It means many people who visited the park really enjoyed their time there!
