Meggin Patricia Cabot (born February 1, 1967) is a famous American writer. She has written over 50 books for young adults and grown-ups. Meg Cabot is best known for her popular series, The Princess Diaries. This book series was even made into two movies by Walt Disney Pictures.

Meg Cabot has won many awards for her books. These include awards from the New York Public Library and the American Library Association. Her books have also been New York Times bestsellers. More than 25 million copies of her books have been sold worldwide!

Her Early Life and Career

Meggin Patricia Cabot was born on February 1, 1967. This was in Bloomington, Indiana. After finishing college at Indiana University, Meg moved to New York City. She first wanted to be an illustrator, which means drawing pictures for books.

But she soon changed her mind. She started working as an assistant manager at a college dorm. This was at New York University.

Her Personal Life

Meg Cabot married Benjamin D. Egnatz on April 1, 1993. Benjamin is a writer and a poet. They chose April Fool's Day for their wedding on purpose! Her husband joked that only "fools" get married. They ran away to Italy to get married. Meg's book Every Boy's Got One is partly based on their wedding story.

Meg loves cats and often writes about them. She used to have a one-eyed cat named Henrietta. Now she has a cat named Gem.

Meg has lived in many places. These include Indiana, California, New York, and France. Today, she lives in Key West, Florida, with her husband.
