Mehdi Abdi was born on November 30, 1998. His hometown is Qara Kheyl, which is located in Qaem Shahr County, Mazandaran Province, Iran.
Playing for Persepolis

Mehdi Abdi started his professional career with Persepolis, one of Iran's biggest football clubs. He quickly showed his talent. In the 2019–20 season, he scored his first two goals for the team against Peykan. He also scored a crucial goal against Naft Masjed Soleyman. This helped Persepolis win the Persian Gulf Pro League championship very early that season.
One of his most memorable moments came in the AFC Champions League, a major football competition for Asian clubs. In the semi-finals, Persepolis faced Al-Nassr. Mehdi Abdi scored a header that helped his team reach the final. He also scored the first goal in the 2020 AFC Champions League Final against Ulsan Hyundai FC.
Before joining the main team, Mehdi Abdi was a star in youth football. In 2018, he was the top scorer in the Tehran Youths Competition, scoring 24 goals. He also made 14 assists, helping his teammates score. During his time at Persepolis, he played 84 games and scored 21 goals.
