Meister Cody is an exciting online game designed to help children who find math tricky. It includes a special test called the CODY Assessment. This test helps find out if a child might have dyscalculia or just needs a bit more help with math.
The game was created by experts. Psychologists and neuroscientists from the University of Münster worked with technology experts from Kaasa health. They made this educational video game to be a fun way to learn. Parents, teachers, and therapists can use it to help kids get better at math.
How the Game Works
Before you start the main training, you take the CODY Assessment. This is a special test that checks different math skills. It looks at how you understand numbers and quantities. It also checks your calculation skills and how well you remember things while solving problems.
The game's training helps with specific number skills that might be hard for some kids. It focuses on understanding numbers and amounts. This includes linking quantities to numbers, seeing parts of a whole, and understanding number order. It also helps with quick number recognition (like knowing how many dots there are without counting). The game teaches you how our number system works, where the position of a digit matters.
There are 19 different tasks in the game. An earlier version of the game was tested in a study. It showed that computer games can really help kids with math difficulties. The math training is part of an adventure story. You earn rewards as you play, which makes learning more fun! To get the best results, it's suggested to play 3 to 5 days a week.
Meet the Characters
The main character of this learning game is Meister Cody. He is a wise traveler, a great storyteller, and a master magician. One day, he gets a message through his magic crystal ball. The message is a call for help from the faraway Kingdom of Talasia!
Meister Cody asks you, the player, to join him on a quest. Your mission is to help Princess Namea and Prince Fandales save their kingdom. Along your journey, you'll meet many other interesting characters. These include the friendly Genie, the helpful Port Master, and the wise Oracle. You'll also meet magical Forest Fairies and Ice Fairies. All these characters give you clues, support, and encouragement as you play.
Who Can Play
Meister Cody – Talasia is made for elementary school children. It's especially good for kids in second to fourth grade. However, it also teaches basic math skills that can help younger children, even those in kindergarten.
This is a single player game. This means you play by yourself. The game is smart and changes to fit your skill level. As you play through the 19 different tasks, the game automatically adjusts how hard or easy it is for you. This way, it's always challenging but not too difficult.
