Melanie Faye's Early Life and Learning
Melanie Faye was born in Huntsville, Alabama. Her parents were chemists, and she grew up in a Jehovah's Witness family. She started writing songs when she was very young. When she was three years old, her family moved to Nashville, Tennessee. In third grade, she won a music contest held by the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Melanie says she became interested in music because of the video game Guitar Hero. She played it a lot in middle school. A year later, she got her first real guitar. She traded her Xbox controller for it! Melanie studied jazz guitar at the Nashville School of the Arts, which is a high school for performing arts. She looks up to famous guitarists like Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson, and Eric Gale. These artists have greatly influenced her unique playing style. Her music mixes different styles, including R&B, neo-soul, and funk.
Melanie has performed all over the country with other soul and R&B artists. These include Noname, Bibi McGill, Masego, and Dammo. She was featured on the cover of She Shreds magazine.
