Melanie Leupolz (born April 14, 1994) is a talented German footballer. She played as a midfielder for many top clubs. Her last team was Liga F club Real Madrid.

Melanie also played for the German national team. She represented her country from 2013 until 2023.

Melanie Leupolz's Club Journey

Early Football Days

Melanie Leupolz began her football journey at a young age. She played for youth clubs like TSV Ratzenried and TSV Tettnang. In 2010, she joined Freiburg.

Rising with Freiburg

During the 2010–11 season, Freiburg's team was promoted. They moved up to the top German league, the Bundesliga. Melanie made her first Bundesliga appearance on August 21, 2011. She even scored a goal in that game! It was a 2–2 draw against SC 07 Bad Neuenahr.

Success with Bayern Munich

In 2014, Melanie moved to Bayern Munich. She played her first game for Bayern on August 31, 2014. Her first goal for the team came on October 2, 2014. Bayern won that game 4–0 against Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

Melanie had great success with Bayern. She helped them win two Bundesliga titles. These wins happened in her first two seasons, 2014–15 and 2015–16. She stayed with Bayern until 2020.

Time at Chelsea

On March 23, 2020, Melanie signed with Chelsea. She quickly won her first title with them. It was the FA Community Shield on August 29, 2020. She scored her first goal for Chelsea on September 13. It was in a huge 9–0 win against Bristol City.

In 2021, Melanie played in the Champions League final. Unfortunately, Chelsea lost 4–0 to Barcelona.

In March 2022, Chelsea announced that Melanie was pregnant. She took a break from playing for the rest of that season. She returned to the team in early 2023 after giving birth. That season, she helped Chelsea win the Super League and the FA Cup.

Moving to Real Madrid

Melanie Leupolz joined Real Madrid on July 3, 2024.

Melanie Leupolz's International Career

Youth National Teams

Melanie played for Germany's youth national teams. As an Under-17 international, she played in the 2010 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup. She scored two goals in that tournament against South Africa. She was also the captain of the U-17 team in 2011.

Playing for Germany's Senior Team

Melanie made her debut for the senior German national team on June 19, 2013. It was a 1–0 win against Canada. The very next day, she was chosen for Germany's UEFA Women's Euro 2013 squad.

She was part of the team that won the gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics. This was a huge achievement for her and the team.

At the 2019 Women's World Cup, she scored a goal. It was in Germany's 4–0 win over South Africa. This was her first national goal since the 2016 Olympics.

In September 2023, Melanie announced that she was retiring from the national team.
