How the Tournament Worked

The tournament had two main parts: the group stage and the knockout stage.

Group Stage

The twelve teams were divided into three groups: Group A, Group B, and Group C. Each team played against every other team in their group once.

  • Teams got 3 points for a win.
  • They got 1 point for a draw (a tie).
  • They got 0 points for a loss.

The top two teams from each group moved on to the next round. Also, the two best third-placed teams from all groups also got to go to the knockout stage.
