Melitina Staniouta (born November 15, 1993) is a famous retired rhythmic gymnast from Belarus. She was known for her amazing performances and won many medals during her career. She earned three bronze medals in the all-around at the World Championships (in 2010, 2013, and 2015). Melitina also won a bronze medal at the 2015 European Games and a silver medal at the 2014 European Championships in the all-around competition.

About Melitina Staniouta

Melitina Staniouta is the great-granddaughter of a famous Belarusian actress, Stefaniya Staniouta. Melitina can speak four languages: Belarusian, Russian, English, and French.

In 2020, Melitina spoke out about what she believed was right. She shared her thoughts on social media. Because of her strong opinions, she and her parents lost their jobs. She then moved from her home in Minsk. In early 2022, she went to Kyiv. Later, she moved to Rueil-Malmaison, near Paris. There, she now coaches rhythmic gymnastics, sharing her skills with new gymnasts.

Early Gymnastics Career

Melitina started rhythmic gymnastics in 1998 when she was just five years old. In 2005, she began training with Larissa Loukianenko. Soon after, she joined the national gymnastics team.

Junior Achievements

As a junior gymnast, Melitina won several medals. At the 2008 European Junior Championships, she earned silver medals. These were for her performances with the ribbon and the rope.

Senior Gymnastics Career

2009-2012: Starting Strong

Melitina began her senior career in 2009. She quickly won two medals at the 2009 World Championships. She also won a bronze medal in the rope event at the World Cup in Pesaro. At the 2009 Grand Prix Final in Berlin, she took home an all-around bronze medal.

In 2010, Melitina continued her success. She won an all-around bronze medal at the World Cup Series. She also earned an all-around bronze and a rope bronze at the 2010 World Championships. Even with injuries like a broken foot, finger, leg, and collarbone, she kept competing.

In 2012, Melitina placed 6th in the all-around at the European Championships. At the World Cup in Minsk, she won bronze medals in hoop, clubs, and ribbon. She competed in her first Olympics in London in 2012. She finished 12th in the qualifications.

2013: A Golden Year

Melitina had a fantastic year in 2013. She won a silver medal in the all-around at the World Cup in Tartu, Estonia. She also won her first World Cup all-around gold medal at the Irina Deleanu Cup. She then won another all-around gold at the World Cup Pesaro. There, she also won three gold medals in ball, clubs, and ribbon finals.

At the 2013 Minsk World Cup, she won an all-around bronze medal in front of her home crowd. She also took two gold medals in clubs and ribbon. At the 2013 European Championships, she helped her team win a bronze medal. She also won individual bronze medals in hoop and clubs.

Melitina won two gold medals (clubs and ball) at the 2013 World Games in Cali. At the 2013 World Championships in Kyiv, she won bronze medals in ribbon and ball. She also earned the all-around bronze medal. Later, she won a team silver medal at the 2013 Aeon Cup in Tokyo. She also took an individual silver medal there.

2014: More Medals

Melitina started 2014 by winning the all-around gold medal at LA Lights. She won a gold medal in ribbon at the 2014 Thiais Grand Prix. At the 2014 Stuttgart World Cup, she won silver in ball and three bronze medals in hoop, clubs, and ribbon.

At the Thiais Grand Prix in Paris, she won all-around bronze. She also earned silver in ribbon and bronze in hoop, ball, and clubs. She won all-around gold at the Bucharest Grand Prix. There, she also took gold in hoop, ball, and ribbon.

Melitina won all-around bronze at the 2016 Minsk World Cup. She also won silver in hoop and bronze in ball and clubs. At the 2016 Berlin World Cup, she won all-around silver. She also won gold in hoop, silver in ball and clubs, and bronze in ribbon.

In August 2016, Melitina competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She reached the individual all-around final. She finished 5th overall, which is a great achievement.

Melitina announced her retirement from gymnastics on December 23, 2016.
