Early Life and Learning

She was one of the first women from The Bahamas to become a doctor! She also studied public health at Johns Hopkins University. Public health is about keeping whole communities healthy. Later, she trained to be a children's doctor (a paediatrician) at Howard University. She even taught there for a while.

Helping The Bahamas

After her studies, Dr. Dahl-Regis returned home to The Bahamas. She started working at Princess Margaret Hospital. In 1997, she became the Chief Medical Officer of The Bahamas. This meant she was in charge of the country's health system.

In 2009, she won an award from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). This award was for her great ideas in managing healthcare and helping with medical education. She also successfully managed a serious malaria outbreak, which helped protect the tourism industry.

Fighting Diseases Globally

In 2018, Dr. Dahl-Regis received the PAHO Public Health Hero of the Americas award. The Prime Minister of The Bahamas, Hubert Minnis, praised her for her efforts.
