Edith Mervinia Masterman (1901–1998) was an amazing Australian writer, naturalist, and illustrator. She was best known for her two illustrated books about the natural history of Kangaroo Island. These books were called Flinder's Chase, Kangaroo Island, South Australia: Place of enchantment for nature lovers (published in 1950) and Flinder's Chase Revisited, Kangaroo Island, South Australia: Nature-lovers' sanctuary (published in 1972).
Edith Masterman also gave public talks about nature. A newspaper called The Advertiser said her first book was "a charming book." Another writer, Eleanor Barbour, described her as a very talented artist who could write beautifully. Her books were popular and sold all over Australia.

Edith was very active in her community. She was involved with the Associated Country Women of the World, an organization that helps women in rural areas. She also gave talks about art to different groups of the Country Women's Association. She even held informal art classes and sketching parties, sharing her love for art with others. Edith Masterman passed away in the same year as her husband.
