Meyersdale is a small town, called a "borough," in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, USA. It's located right by the Casselman River. It's about 73 miles (117 km) southeast of Pittsburgh.
Long ago, the main job in Meyersdale was mining coal. Today, Meyersdale is famous for being on the Great Allegheny Passage, which is a long path for biking and walking built on old railroad tracks. Every spring since 1948, Meyersdale hosts the Pennsylvania Maple Festival. That's why it's also known as the "Maple City"! It's also where the fun Somerset County Fair happens.

History of Meyersdale
People first settled in the Meyersdale area around 1776. But the town really started to grow when the first railroad arrived in 1871. Coal mining became a big industry the very next year.
The town was named after an early settler, Peter Meyers. He was a local farmer who helped start the community. Some of the early names for Meyersdale were Meyers Mills and Dale City.
In 1844, Jacob Olinger planned out 30 building lots on his land. More lots were added in 1852 and 1869. Peter Meyers and the Beachley family also planned out lots on their land. In 1872, the Olinger and Beachley lots were joined together and called Dale City. Then, in 1874, the Meyers lots were added, and the name was changed to Meyersdale.
Two early churches, Amity Reformed Church and Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, were started around 1851 and 1852. They shared a church building from 1854 until 1875.
In 1981–82, Meyersdale won an All-America City Award. This award recognizes communities that work together to solve problems. The Meyersdale Wind Farm, which uses wind turbines to make electricity, started working in 2003.
Two important buildings in Meyersdale, the New Colonial Hotel and the Second National Bank of Meyersdale, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means they are special historical sites.
