Michael Dennis Morgan, born on December 19, 1946, is a famous Australian rower. He won medals at the Olympic Games. He was also a very successful coach for many years. He coached at the Olympic level and for school teams.

Michael Morgan's Rowing Journey
Starting to Row
Michael Morgan started rowing when he was a student at Newington College. He attended the college from 1957 to 1965. After school, he continued his rowing at the Sydney Rowing Club starting in 1964.
Winning Championships
He became a champion rower for his state, New South Wales. He won many titles while rowing for Sydney clubs. For six years in a row, from 1968 to 1973, he was part of the New South Wales team. This team competed in the King's Cup, a big national rowing competition. His team won the King's Cup in both 1968 and 1972.
Olympic Success
Michael also represented Australia at the Olympic Games. He won a silver medal in 1968 at the Mexico City Olympics. He was part of the men's eight-person rowing team. He also competed in the 1972 Munich Olympics.
Michael Morgan's Coaching Career
Coaching Club Teams
After his rowing career, Michael became the first full-time head coach for the Sydney Rowing Club. He helped his teams win many national championships. He even set a record for the most wins by a coach in one year.
He coached youth teams and King's Cup crews for New South Wales. He did this throughout the 1970s and 1980s. He went to his third Olympics in 1976. This time, he was the coach for the Australian eight-person rowing team at the Montreal Olympics.
Coaching School Teams
Michael was also a very successful high school coach. He coached the top eight-person rowing team at Newington College. He worked with Robert Buntine for twenty-six years. During ten of those years, his school team won the famous Head of the River competition. For twenty of those years, he was also a teacher at the college.
