Michael David Rapaport (born March 20, 1970) is an American actor, comedian, and podcast host. He started his career in the early 1990s and has appeared in over 100 movies and TV shows.
Some of his well-known movie roles include True Romance (1993), Higher Learning (1995), Deep Blue Sea (1999), and The Heat (2013). On television, he was a main actor in shows like Boston Public (2001–2004), The War at Home (2005–2007), Prison Break (2008–2009), and Atypical (2017–2021). He also had recurring roles in popular sitcoms like Friends (1999) and My Name Is Earl (2007–2008).
Besides acting, Michael Rapaport directed a documentary film called Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest in 2011, which was about the hip hop group A Tribe Called Quest. He also hosts his own podcast, the I Am Rapaport Stereo Podcast.

Early Life and School
Michael Rapaport was born in New York City. His mother, June Brody, was a radio personality, and his father, David Rapaport, was a radio executive. He has a brother named Eric and an older half-sister, Claudia Lonow. After his parents divorced, his mother married Mark Lonow, who was a comedian and owned a famous comedy club called The Improv.
Michael grew up in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. His family is Ashkenazi Jewish, with roots in Poland and Russia.
He faced some challenges in school. He attended Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn in the 1980s and later graduated from Martin Luther King High School in Manhattan.
Career Highlights
In 1989, when he was 19, Michael Rapaport moved to Los Angeles, California to become a stand-up comedian. His stepfather, Mark Lonow, helped him get started in the comedy world. He performed stand-up for three years.
His first big acting role was in the TV series China Beach. Later, he had a recurring role in My Name Is Earl as Frank, a character Earl meets in prison. He also played Homeland Security Agent Don Self in the fourth season of Prison Break.
In 2008, Rapaport announced he was directing a documentary about the hip hop group A Tribe Called Quest. The film, Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest, came out in 2011 and was well-received.
He also guest-starred in the fifth season of the FX series Justified as the villain Daryl Crowe Jr.
In 2010, Michael Rapaport played in the NBA All-Star Weekend's Celebrity Game. He was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for his great defense, even though he only scored four points.
In 2014, he directed an ESPN 30 for 30 film about the 1970s championship-winning New York Knicks basketball team.
Michael Rapaport is a frequent guest on The Howard Stern Show and hosts his own podcast, the I Am Rapaport Stereo Podcast, with his childhood friend Gerald Moody. He has also appeared on many other popular podcasts.
He is a reporter for Fox Sports, covering the Big3 basketball league. He also narrates the WWE 365 series on WWE Network.
In 2023, Michael Rapaport competed on The Masked Singer as the wild card contestant "Pickle". He was eliminated on "2000s Night".
Family Life
In 2000, Michael Rapaport married writer and producer Nichole Beattie. They had two sons together before divorcing in 2007.
In 2016, he married his longtime girlfriend, actress Kebe Dunn.
