Michael Anthony Wiley was born on October 16, 1957. He is an American former basketball player. Michael was a tall player, standing 6 feet 9 inches (2.06 meters) and weighing 200 pounds (91 kg). He played as a small forward and went to Long Beach State for college.

Michael Wiley's Basketball Journey
College Years
Michael Wiley played college basketball at Long Beach State University. He played for two different coaches during his time there. First, he played for coach Dwight Jones. Then, he played for two years under Tex Winter, who is a famous coach in the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Michael was a star player from the start. In his first year (1976–77), he was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Pacific Coast Athletic Association (PCAA) Tournament. He also made the PCAA all-tournament team in 1978 and 1980.
He was the top scorer for his team twice, during the 1977–78 and 1979–80 seasons. In the 1979–80 season, he scored 697 points. This was the second-highest number of points ever scored by a player in a single season for his team. During the 1978–79 season, Michael also led his team in blocked shots, averaging 1.9 blocks per game.
Michael set some impressive records in postseason games. He scored 31 points in one game against Pepperdine in the 1980 National Invitation Tournament (NIT). This tied the record for the most points scored by a Long Beach State player in a postseason game. He also made 14 field goals in that same game, which was a new record.
By the end of his college career, Michael Wiley was named an All-American. He was chosen for the Pacific Coast Athletic Association all-conference first team. Before that, he had been on the second team for his first three seasons.
Michael holds several records for Long Beach State. As of the 2010–11 basketball season, he had the most career field goals made (814) and the most field goals made in a single season (295). His career shooting percentage of .570 is the best in Long Beach State history. He was also the second-highest rebounder in the team's history.
In 1993, Michael Wiley was honored for his amazing college career. He was inducted into the Long Beach State Athletic Hall of Fame.
Playing Professionally
After college, Michael Wiley played in the NBA. He joined the San Antonio Spurs for the 1980–81 season. He was chosen by the Spurs as the 16th pick in the second round of the 1980 NBA draft. During that season, he played about 8.5 minutes per game, averaging 5.7 points and 1.9 rebounds.
The next season, he played for the San Diego Clippers. He played about 12 minutes per game and averaged 8.3 points and 3.0 rebounds. Michael was known for being a very accurate scorer. He shot about 56.5% or 57% from the field. He had one of the highest points-per-minute ratings in NBA history. He consistently shot over 57% throughout his entire basketball career.
After his time in the NBA, Michael Wiley continued his professional career overseas. He played for teams like Elmex Leiden, AS Monaco, US Avignon, and Vevey Basket.

Michael Wiley is the older brother of another former NBA player, Morlon Wiley.
