Michael Anthony Wiley (born October 16, 1957) is an American basketball player. He was a talented small forward who stood 6 feet 9 inches (2.06 meters) tall and weighed 200 pounds (91 kg). He played college basketball at Long Beach State.

College Career Highlights
Wiley went to Long Beach State University. He played for two different coaches during his time there. First, he played for coach Dwight Jones. Then, he played for the famous Hall of Fame coach Tex Winter.
Michael was a star player from his first year. He was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Pacific Coast Athletic Association Tournament in the 1976–77 season. He also made the PCAA all-tournament team in 1978 and 1980.
He was the top scorer for his team twice. This happened during the 1977–78 and 1979–1980 seasons. His 697 points in the 1979–80 season is the second-highest score ever for a single season at Long Beach State. In the 1978–79 season, Wiley also led his team in blocked shots. He averaged 1.9 blocks per game.
Wiley showed his skill in postseason games too. He scored 31 points in a game against Pepperdine. This was in the 1980 National Invitation Tournament (NIT). This tied the record for most points by a 49er in a postseason game. He also made 14 field goals in that same game, setting a new record.
Michael Wiley finished his college career as an All-American player. He was chosen for the Pacific Coast Athletic Association all-conference first team. Before that, he was on the second team for his first three seasons.
He set several records at Long Beach State. As of the 2010–11 basketball season, he held the record for most career field goals made with 814. He also held the record for most field goals in a single season with 295. His career shooting percentage of .570 is the best in 49er history. He was also the second-highest career rebounder for the team.
In 1993, Michael Wiley was honored for his achievements. He was inducted into the Long Beach State Athletic Hall of Fame.
Professional Basketball Career
After college, Michael Wiley played in the NBA. He joined the San Antonio Spurs for the 1980–81 season. He averaged 5.7 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. He played for about 8.5 minutes per game. The Spurs had picked him in the second round of the 1980 NBA draft. He was the 16th pick in that round.
The next season, he played for the San Diego Clippers. There, he averaged 8.3 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. He played for about 12.0 minutes per game. He was known as a very accurate scorer. He shot 56.5% or 57% from the field.
Wiley had one of the highest points-per-minute ratings in NBA history. This means he scored a lot of points in the short time he played. He shot 56.1% over his two seasons in the NBA. He consistently shot over 57% throughout his entire basketball career.
After his time in the NBA, Michael Wiley played basketball overseas. He played for teams in Europe. These teams included Elmex Leiden, AS Monaco, US Avignon, and Vevey Basket.

Michael Wiley has a younger brother named Morlon Wiley. Morlon also became an NBA basketball player.
